Santa Cruz Lake, 14 Jul 22

Full moon the night before, warm sunny day, lake was very high and dam was letting water flow over the too spillway today. That being said...

Pet Fish!

A man with two buckets of fish was leaving beach in Boca tonight and was stopped by FWC. The Officer asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The man replied , "No, sir. These are my pet fish."

"Pet fish?!" the officer replied.

"Yes, sir. Every night I take these fish down to this beach and let them swim around for about a half-hour, When I whistle, they all come back, jump back into my buckets, and I take 'em home. We do this every night."

"That's a bunch of NorthEasterner Bullshit” said the officer. "Fish can't do that!"

"No, really! says the man. "Here, I'll show you." And he releases the fish in the ocean.

"Well, I've GOT to see this!" he replied.

The  2 men stood and waited. After several minutes, the officer turned to the man and said, "Well?"

"Well, what?" the man asked.

"When are you going to call them back?" the officer huffs.

"Call who back?" the man asked.

"The FISH."

"What fish?"

Annual Picnic, 29 June 22

Beautiful day for a picnic and to celebrate Lucy's 91st!  Fruits, salads, ribs, chicken, taquitos, cake and ice cream, drinks, cold cuts, veggie trays, and deserts. Even some of the Bear Canyon staff came out to join us and help celebrate. Unfortunately, Bernie the Club President, was still recovering from surgery. The club packed a bag filled with food and cake for him and his wife to be delivered. Both were surprised and very appreciative of the kind thoughts and gesture. Long time member Cathy was able to come and visit as well. Door prizes were also part of the celebration.  Until next year....

Charette Lake, NM, 28 June 22

Well a great trip in so many ways. Long drive, but some good memories! 8 Bear Canyon Fishing Club members departed at 4am. The North Valley Fishing Club also had 8 members heading to the same lake that day. So 16 members of the Albuquerque Senior Centers were on a mission to catch some big trout. Not sure how many they caught, but BCFC caught 28 maybe more. Conditions were not the best. Moss, algae, lots of hot sunshine hampered perfect fishing.

Santa Cruz Lake, 9 June 22

No van to use, not enough passengers, but 4 members made the trip. Gas prices are going to slow trips like this down for sure. Bimmer Steve caught his personal best in NM, 18" trout! A total of 4 fish were caught.

Escondida Lake - 24 May, 2022

Another trip south just north of Socorro,  NM. 9 Members took the challenge to try for some catfish! Fishing was not that good (0 fish), but breakfast at the Crane Cafe in Lemitar and a late lunch at Grandma's K and I diner on Broadway was great. Lots of laughs! When you don't catch catfish, you stop and eat some!

Santa Cruz Lake, 19 May, 2022

Another great day of laughter, fishing, and fellowship.  7 members went fishing today, 35 fish were caught. Blue skies and light breezes, until we left...then the wind kicked in. As we left the lake looking NE, we could see the smoke from the fires still burning, so sad. Mildred caught a 14" trout, most of us caught 11-12" trout. On the way home we took a detour to the lake overlook campground.

Burns Lake, 10 May, 2022

As a member of Bear Canyon Fishing Club, I wanted to share this. Buddy is a member of our club and the North Valley Fishing Club. He holds the current record for NV with this nice 23" trout!

Eagle Nest, NM - May 6-8, 2024

Wow, another great trip for the members of the BCSC Fishing Club. 10 members braved the windy conditions. Unlike some last trips to Eagle Ne...
